Ordinary Moments

July 14, 2010

I think that sometimes as photographers we get caught up in creating perfect images for our clients that we forget to capture our own families. Especially those ordinary moments that happen every day. Those moments that make up our days, that create memories. So I have decided that I will pick up my camera more often and snap those moments, even if they are not perfect. Life isn’t perfect and I want to capture everything about our ordinary lives!

Like morning. Morning in my bed!

This is every morning in our house. Life seems to revolve around my bedroom.

Today I had the pleasure of photographing a beautiful little family. This family is near and dear to my heart because they have a sweet little girl from Ethiopia just like my girl. In fact we used the same adoption agency and social worker.

Aiyana’s eyes are just like Gabbi’s. So deep they go on forever!

We had so much fun in the forest looking for frogs, playing hockey with sticks and splashing in the water…

Thanks so much guys for trusting me with your precious pictures! I hope you like your sneak peek.

I think today was the hottest day of the year! Thank goodness Stephanie suggested to do the shoot at the beach. I am not sure it was any cooler by the water but it was nice to be there.
Are these guys not the cutest family!!

Luke is 11 months old and he was so good!!! He must have known that the grown ups were melting because he was a doll!!

Love love love this one!

Luke you are too sweet!!!

Thanks guys for braving the heat wave with me! I think it was totally worth it ;)

Step 1 ~ Fill your reusable cup with Iced Green Tea Lemonade

Step 2 ~ Fill balloons with icy cold water

Step 3 ~ Find neighborhood kids with good pitching arms

Step 4 ~ Get wet! Don’t run too fast, remember the point here is to cool off!

Warning ~ Watch out for sneak attacks

That’s it my friends! Now wake up tomorrow and lather, rinse and repeat ;)

Loving right now….

July 6, 2010

As I typed this I realized my last few posts have the word love in the title :) So yesterday I shared my favourite iced tea drink with you and believe me we need it right now. Yesterday temperatures hit 43 degrees celsius!!! But you won’t hear me complaining. I am a heat lover!

So today I want to share just a few things I am loving right now.

First up is this ice cream! It rocks my world!!! It’s vegan, sweetened with agave and so delicious!! What more can you ask for.

Next up is my new blender. Oh how I love this thing!!!

It make the most smoothiest smoothies. It blends kale like a dream for my green smoothies. It makes awesome slushy “adult” drinks. Oh man it is awesome!!!

If you haven’t jumped on the green smoothie bandwagon, give it a try! They are so good! You can’t even taste the greens. This smoothie here has 3 cups of chopped kale, half cup strawberries, 1 banana, flax seeds, water and a splash of honey. My kids drink these everyday!

And lastly while I can’t say I am loving my braces I am at least getting used them them. And I know I will be loving my new straight teeth in 6 months when I get them off.

Have a great week everyone!!!

Stuff I love

July 5, 2010

I love it when bloggers do these “things I love” posts !! So I thought I would give it a go. I am working on a “stuff I love” post right now but here is a little sneak peek for you ;)

Tazo Iced Green Tea Lemonade!
Fill a mason jar about 3/4 full with boiling water and add 4 bags of Tazo Green tea. Steep for 3 minutes. Then put in the fridge to cool. Once cool make your drink with 3 parts green tea and 1 part Santa Cruz organic lemonade. If you like it sweeter then do half lemonade :) Serve in a tall glass with ice and fresh mint leaves.

I am in love…

June 29, 2010

with this session!! And especially in love with this picture!

Erin and her family.. aren’t they beautiful!!!

Ella made me pull out every trick I have. Butterfly’s in my lens, peekaboo, magical faeries in the forest.. you name it I tried it to get her to pay me some attention.

But she came around :-D

Erin you are gorgeous!!

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!!

in your arms for three years and in your heart till the day you die.
Mary Mason

This morning I had a maternity shoot with Mandy and her husband and there two sweet pups! The weather ended up being perfect for us even though it was threatening rain all weekend.

Have you ever tried to get two dogs to look at you at the same time for a picture ;)
