Happy Solstice

December 21, 2009

Wow its been a long time, I apologize for neglecting this space! I have been having a super busy holiday season. A few months ago when I was so busy with photo shoots I decided that I was going to take December off. But then an opportunity presented itself and I couldn’t turn it down.

I got a job at Lululemon. One of my favourite places to shop :-) But it has turned into much more than that. After I worked my first shift my manager gave me some cd’s to listen to. The first CD basically changed the way I feel about myself. It basically said that we are who we think we are. He described how we have these ideas about ourselves and that these ideas shape what we can do and what we can’t  do. The first thing that popped into my mind was how I always tell myself that I am not an athlete, I am not a runner. Even though I have always wanted to be. For some reason I told myself all the time that I couldn’t do it. But here I was surrounded by these awesome athletic clothes, amazing knowledgeable co-workers. And I decided that I am an athlete and I am a runner. I started training for my first race which is 5K in April 2010!

A few weeks ago Mike and I watched the movie Food Inc. This movie has changed me. It was one of the most upsetting movies I have ever seen and since seeing it I have not been able to eat meat. After  few days I realized that eating an almost vegan diet I was feeling so much better! So I have made the choice to give up meat forever and become a vegetarian.

The rest of our holiday’s have been busy but lovely.

As you can see we’ve been consuming far too much sugar! :-D (the candy canes are organic and delicious!!!)

Tonight we will celebrate the shortest, darkest day of the year by going for a drive with some hot chocolate and looking at all the beautiful Christmas lights!

Wow Seb, what a lovely post… And while I knew you went vegetarian recently, I didn’t know it was forever!!! :) You and I have so much in common – I too don’t see myself as a runner so just haven’t tried. You’re inspiring me though… maybe I should start? :) xx
