Behind the lens

May 28, 2009

Yup it’s me, the girl behind the lens :-) Sometimes it’s good to get on the other side of the camera!

This is Preston. I have a shoot scheduled with him and his beautiful mom Cara in June. But I met with them today and took this shot of him. I couldn’t help myself those eyes are just so gorgeous!

Just had to pop in to add this shot. This is Lianne!! She is stunning!!. I asked her mom if she would let me shoot Lianne again in some clothing choices that I pick… I have some ideas rolling around in my head and I think Lianne would be perfect for them.. stay tuned for more on that! This is favourite type of shot! Where the child is vulnerable and innocent and honest! I have captured this emotion before with Gabbi and Jayden. It’s not easy to catch because when people see a camera they tend to freeze ( I know I do) and put on an artificial smile or pose. But once in a while you get something like this and it’s one of the most beautiful things and something I strive to capture at every photo shoot.

I had a photo shoot with three very beautiful girls today!! They were so great. Lianne especially was so comfortable with the camera. They made it easy for me! Hope you enjoy your sneak peak!!

I had a session today with the most beautiful family in the most beautiful location!!! I got so many gorgeous shots that I had a hard time choosing which ones to put up here for their sneak peak. Lisa LOVES black and white so I am processing most of them that way for her.

Ryan is so sweet and funny!

Cameron is beautiful and she photographs like a dream, I don’t think I got one unflattering shot of her today.

PS: I am honored to be a guest blogger over at shutter sisters today

I mentioned a while back that I won a $250 lens rental credit from Pro Photo Rental. Well I decided on the Canon 24-70 L series lens and the Canon 85mm F/1.8 lens. Both are stunning. I just adore the 24-70 and that is what I used for my last photo shoot. Today I took the 85mm out for spin with my kids and managed to get this shot of Jayden. Just look at that delicious bokeh!!! jjj1

I was supposed to return the lenses this Friday but I have decided to extend the rental until Monday since I have another photo shoot this weekend. 3 little sisters.. I am so excited!!

I hope you’re all having a fabulous week so far!

Today I had my first family session. We met in the beaches in Toronto. So beautiful!! Unfortunately the weather was against us, It was so cold!!! But besides the cold weather I had so much fun!!! Jamie (the mom) is one of my oldest friends. We went to school together from grade 5 right through high school. Today I met her husband for the first time and he was a sweet heart and their daughter Cassidy was a doll!!! She was my first blue eyed baby and just look at those eyes!!! Like sapphires!

Here are are a few of my favourites!

Happy Saturday everyone!! I have two photo shoots planned for this weekend and they are calling for rain!! Please keep your fingers crossed that the weather network is wrong!! I rented two lenses for these shoots and I really want to use them! They go back next Friday. I rented a Canon 24-70 L series F2.8 and a Canon 85mm F1.8 USM.

Hopefully I will be sharing some pictures from the shoots next week with you all.

Yesterday I got a message letting me know that Gabbi and I had been chosen as a mother/daughter, photographer/model team by a very talented lady who is writing a sewing book. She needed a few teams to model and photograph her clothing. The clothes are gorgeous boutique quality! So Gabbi will be photographed by me in the clothes and those pictures will appear in the book with credit to her and me and a link to my website.. plus Gabbi gets to keep these gorgeous outfits! I will post more info once I get it!

So yesterday I went out with the kids to the park. I wanted to practice taking some pictures of Gabbi since I have three photoshoots this weekend and one of them is a two year old girl. I was paying attention to Gabbi (not my other kids) when I realized that Zander was out of my sight. I called him and looked up and saw him flying down a steep hill on his skateboard (I must insert here that Zander is only 5). He had no helmet or protective gear of any kind. Just as looked up, he fell.. face first on the pavement. Omgosh was he badly scraped up. I know it looked worse then it was but his nose is all swollen, fat lip, looks like he was in a fight. My poor little guy. He seems fine now. So needless to say I only got a couple pictures of Gabbi.

I just want to send out a big thank you to you all. I have have had 110 people become fans of my photography page on facebook which is so great and I even booked a session from it.

Have a wonderful day!!!
