Anthony and Ken’s Wedding! ~ Toronto Wedding Photographer

Well I must be honest here I was very nervous to shoot this wedding!! Even though I know Anthony and his family, I was nervous. Not only have I never shot a gay wedding… I had never been to a gay wedding. But as soon as I arrived at Anthony’s house and started chatting with Ken (who also had never been to a gay wedding) I was put at ease. First of all Ken is a doll! And Anthony is amazing! Their love for each other would put anyone at ease. And so I just started shooting. The way I would shoot any couple at any wedding. This was one classy wedding! It was at the Carlu in Toronto! Gorgeous!!!! Here is a bit of history from the Carlu’s website:

“In 1930, the Eaton’s department store chain, at the time Canada’s dominant retailer, opened “Eaton’s College Street”, an imposing Art Deco store at the intersection of Yonge Street and College Street. The matriarch of the Eaton family, Lady Flora McCrea Eaton, was a member of Eaton’s Board of Directors, and the Eaton’s restaurants were one of her responsibilities. She retained the noted French architect Jacques Carlu to design the seventh floor of the edifice, which was to contain the 1300-seat Eaton Auditorium, the Round Room restaurant, lounges and a private dining room. All of the facilities were to be connected by a long foyer, designed in the style of the ocean liners of the day. Between 1931-1965 the theatre was home to the Eaton Operatic Society.”

I really wanted to capture the history and the feeling of this place. This is the room where they had the ceremony.

And this is Anthony and Ken!

Now since there was no bride I was feeling a bit of withdrawal because I had no gown or shoes to shoot!! But no worries. Anthony has amazing taste and he had his sisters and best friend in the most gorgeous gowns!! and shoes

Everything was so beautifully done! I really felt like I was at a 1930′s wedding!

This is Anthony’s gorgeous sister Sarah and my dear friend Anna who’s wedding I will be doing in February 2012 in Mexico.. yeehaw!!

Congratulations Anthony and Ken!! Ken when your brothers got up and did there speeches I was crying so hopefully the pictures of that are clear since I was shooting through tears

I am so excited to blog these pictures!! They are of my favourite yoga instructor from my favourite yoga studio

Isn’t she amazing!!!! She is without a doubt the best yoga instructor I have ever been to!

Not only is Michelle an amazing yoga instructor she is also an awesome hair dresser And an amazing person! You can feel warmth and light radiating from her. I think I was able to capture her personality here. She is just lovely!!

Kristine + Kris ~ Toronto Wedding Photographer

Kristine and Kris are my first booked wedding of 2011. I love engagement shoots! I think it’s such a good thing for the photographer and clients to get to know each other before the wedding.

Some people are totally natural in front of the camera and some aren’t Kristine told me she wasn’t but I mean… look at these pictures!

I love this one so much!!! Kris was actually playing her a song and it was awesome!! I have always wanted to learn to play the guitar.. some day

Out shoot was at the Brickworks in Toronto. Probably my favourite place to shoot! I love all the different settings.

It was so nice to meet you guys and I am really looking forward to your wedding next summer!!

Happy Anniversary! ~ Whitby Photographer

Today I did a very special photo shoot. Sharilyn was surprising her husband for their 10th anniversary with a renewal of their vows and a photo shoot.

After the I do’s we just hung out and took some photos of their lovely family.

This is their daughter Brianna. Isn’t she gorgeous!! Her eyes sure do tell a story!

And perhaps their best gift Sharilyn is expecting a baby boy in October!!

Congratulations on 10 years together! I wish you have many many more to come

Ordinary Moments ~ Quiet Afternoon

This is what my afternoon looked like today. Gabbi asleep and the boys out playing with their friends. I had a hot tea on the patio and it was perfect!!

Joyanne’s Maternity Session ~ Whitby Photographer

A few months ago I got an email from Joyanne while she was living in the Caribbean. She was planning a move to my area and had come across my website. I remember thinking how organized she must be to be planning this huge move and finding time to hire a photographer

She wasn’t feeling the greatest at the start of our shoot but she told by the end she was so happy she had done it. I think that’s the way it is sometimes with Maternity shoots. Your so tired all the time and you might just not feel like having your picture taken but take it from somebody who has 4 children and no maternity pictures Do it!! You will regret it later if you don’t!

My photo sessions are pretty relaxed. Just ask any of my clients. We basically hang out for an hour or too, chatting, walking and then before you it know we’re done.

What is it with all these beautiful clients anyways?? And each and every one of them is awesome in front of them camera!

Joyanne you look stunning!! I hope you enjoyed your sneak peek!! I can’t wait to meet your wee one!

We went to a family picnic a few weeks ago and Mike captured Zander using chopsticks for the first time! When Zander puts his mind to something he lets nothing stop him! I wonder where he gets that from

Everything happens for a reason

On Saturday we were supposed to have a family photo shoot of our own with an amazing photographer in Burlington. Robyn Russell! But the weather was so iffy that day that we didn’t want to make that big drive in case we got rained out. Well it turned out to be lovely that evening. But it was too late for our shoot. So since we had our clothes and our props and our hair all ready we decided to grab the tripod and head out for our photo shoot anyways. I can’t tell you how happy I am with the family picture we ended up getting!! But it took some bribes.. I’m not gonna lie. Bribes in the form of pop

Now if you know me at all as a mother then you know I DO NOT give my kids pop.. ever! In fact this was the first time in their lives that they ever had one. But this is no ordinary pop. Oh no! This is real brewed old fashioned root beer. With organic cane sugar and real sarsaparilla.
It’s kind of funny how Ryan got his first pop at 10 years old and Gabbi got hers at 3 and half Ahh the joy of being the youngest.
(before Mike handed it to her he downed over half of it, lol)

I turned the camera over to Mike who is an amazing photographer and he got two of me and my babes that I adore. First me and Jayden
( I didn’t know he snapped this until I got home and uploaded them)
Next me and all my babies!! I love it that Gabbi and I are looking at each other and the boys are looking at the camera… Makes my heart melt into a big puddle

And the result of all our sugar and hard work (ie me running back and forth like a nut with the self timer)
I’m ordering this on a huge wrap around canvas. In fact I am collecting beach pictures all summer and I am doing a whole beach inspired photo wall.. all on canvas of course

And of course we are going to re-book with Robyn and get some amazing pictures from her as well!!

Rich and Beth Wedding Sneak Peek part 2

So here it is. One of the most beautiful weddings I have ever been to. It was at The Berkeley. It was obvious that Rich and Beth put so much love into planning this day. Every detail was amazing!!
Starting with these amazing shoes!!! Beth knows how much I like shoes and she told me weeks ago that I would love these.. and she was right

And the dress!!! It was so Beth!

I love how excited she was!! It was totally infectious!

This is Beth’s 2 year old niece!! She was such a sweetie!

The ceremony was super emotional. It’s not good trying to take pictures when your eyes are tearing up.

Mr. and Mrs Toasting with an Organic Mill Street Beer (my fav) Oh and I have to tell you all that Rich and Beth tried to have as little impact on the environment as possible with this wedding. From Beth choosing not to have flowers to using all local foods for the menu. From hand sewing the napkins (to be later sewn into a quilt) and making reusable center pieces for the tables. It is amazing to see such a genuine love for the earth, made my heart smile

Anyone who knows Rich and Beth know they LOVE to jump.. umm remember their engagement pictures

So while we were taking that jumping shot a fire truck comes around the corner. Beth starts jumping up and down and waving them over. They of course stopped and did whatever she asked because you cannot say no to a bride on her wedding day

Ok so when the MC’s announced Rich and Beth after the ceremony Beth comes in alone. She walks up onto the stage and then the song from dirty dancing (I had the time of my life) starts playing. Rich comes on to the stage and they do this awesome choreographed dance exactly like the movie!! We got a video so I will try and post it soon. It was soooooo good!!!

Mike and I had such a good time, Certainly didn’t feel like we were working!! Love you both!!!
