Ordinary Moments ~ Learning to use chopsticks
July 29, 2010Everything happens for a reason
July 19, 2010On Saturday we were supposed to have a family photo shoot of our own with an amazing photographer in Burlington. Robyn Russell! But the weather was so iffy that day that we didn’t want to make that big drive in case we got rained out. Well it turned out to be lovely that evening. But it was too late for our shoot. So since we had our clothes and our props and our hair all ready we decided to grab the tripod and head out for our photo shoot anyways. I can’t tell you how happy I am with the family picture we ended up getting!! But it took some bribes.. I’m not gonna lie. Bribes in the form of pop ![]()

Now if you know me at all as a mother then you know I DO NOT give my kids pop.. ever! In fact this was the first time in their lives that they ever had one. But this is no ordinary pop. Oh no! This is real brewed old fashioned root beer. With organic cane sugar and real sarsaparilla.
It’s kind of funny how Ryan got his first pop at 10 years old and Gabbi got hers at 3 and half
Ahh the joy of being the youngest.
(before Mike handed it to her he downed over half of it, lol)

I turned the camera over to Mike who is an amazing photographer and he got two of me and my babes that I adore. First me and Jayden
( I didn’t know he snapped this until I got home and uploaded them)
Next me and all my babies!! I love it that Gabbi and I are looking at each other and the boys are looking at the camera… Makes my heart melt into a big puddle ![]()

And the result of all our sugar and hard work (ie me running back and forth like a nut with the self timer)
I’m ordering this on a huge wrap around canvas. In fact I am collecting beach pictures all summer and I am doing a whole beach inspired photo wall.. all on canvas of course
And of course we are going to re-book with Robyn and get some amazing pictures from her as well!!
Happy Halloween!
October 30, 2009
We are busy carving pumpkins, cutting out ghosts and trying on costumes today! Tomorrow the kids will go off trick of treating. But in our house we do it a bit differently. Instead of collecting candy for themselves, they collect candy for the sugar sprite. After they get home they get to choose a few pieces of candy for themselves and then the rest goes into a bowl and is left out for the Sugar Sprite to come and get. In return she leaves each child a little toy. I started this tradition when the boys first started trick or treating because I couldn’t stand the idea of them eating all that candy! It works out great and they just love trying to get as much candy as they can for the sprite!!

The look!
October 23, 2009I am gathering pictures I love of all my children to print on canvas and hang in the hallway. I have so many pictures of Jayden and Gabbi because they are both naturals in front of the camera. My oldest son Ryan however is not (he gets that from me). When he sees the camera he makes the funniest face in an attempt to smile. Reminds me of this look
The other day I took Ryan outside, just him and I, and I spent some time waiting to catch him off guard, waiting for the look. The natural, soulful look that I love to catch and haven’t been able to with him. I tried all my tricks. You see my favourite type of portrait is when the person isn’t smiling. Don’t get me wrong. I love smiles too, but when I am looking for a portrait, especially of my own children, I want no smiles. Because that way the eyes are wide open, you can really see them. So after a while I got it!! I was so happy as soon as I looked at the LCD and saw those eyes and that look!!!

Happy Friday my friends!!
Happy Birthday my beautiful girl!
October 21, 2009My girl turned 3 today!! I can’t believe how fast the time has gone!

Gabbi is one of the sweetest little souls. With just the right amount of attitude!

She is so funny! She has us all laughing really hard at least once every day!

And we get lost in her eyes.. her gorgeous deep eyes!

It is so hot today!!! I think it’s 40 degrees (Celsius) with the humidex. We don’t feel like doing too much but lazing around and drinking homemade lemonade
It’s days like today that make me really wish we had a pool. That is a definate must for our next home!. I hope you are having a wonderfully lazy Sunday!

July 20, 2009I was sent a message this morning from a friend. She thought I might enjoy this gratitude challenge which of course I am all for!!! So here are my 5 photo’s that represent what I am grateful for today!
The first thing I am grateful for today is that we live 5 minutes from the beach! We spend so much time there in the summer not to mention almost all of my summer photo sessions have been there!
Next up is sandy toes!!! Can’t get enough of sandy toes!!!
I am very grateful that I won this iphone!! Not only because it is the coolest phone!! But my kids really love it too! So it’s really a family phone now!
Today I am grateful for echinacea flowers. First off because they are beautiful!! and also because I use the tincture made from these beautiful flowers to keep my kids healthy all through the fall and winter.
and lastly I am grateful for ladybugs!! Just because….
If you decide to participate in the gratitude challenge please let me know!!

Summer Fun! Toronto Childrens Photographer
July 5, 2009Well we are into the swing of summer now! Heading to the beach several times a week, bbq’s every night. Drinks on the patio! I adore summer! I hope you are having a fabulous one so far!
Mike does not like to have his picture taken.. but I was able to sneak this one while he was taking pictures of Gabbi!

I bought this bathing suit for Gabbi in February and could not wait for summer to get her picture in it!
